Participation in the International EAEPE Conference and Summer School

This year, three members of the working group took part in the International EAEPE (European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy) Conference in Budapest and in the EAEPE Summer School in Poznan.

Mahmood Shubbak took part from 29th September to 3rd October 2017 in the 2nd Heterodox Economics Summer School that took place at Poznan University of Economics and Business in Poland. The Summer School brought together young researchers from many countries to present and discuss current research from a multi methodical and interdisciplinary perspective.

From the 19th to the 21th of October 2017, the 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) took place in Budapest, Hungary. Several hundred participants from all over the world took part discussing economic topics, especially from an Evolutionary Economics perspective. The working group was represented by Mariia Shkolnykova, Mahmood Shubbak, and Tobias Wendler. All three were presenting their current research and engaging in scientific exchange with participants with similar research focus. Mariia Shkolnykova presented a current paper on "The Origins of a New Technological Field – Using Patent Citation and Network Analysis Methods for Tracing the Evolution from Biotech to Bioeconomy". Mahmood Shubbak gave a presentation on "The Technological System of Photovoltaics: Identification and Analysis with Patent Classes", and Tobias Wendler presented a paper on the question "Can Innovation Drive Environmental Improvement?".

The next and 30th EAEPE Conference will take place in Nice, France in the year 2018
