3rd Crowdworking Symposium
The University of Bremen hosts the 3rd Crowdworking Symposium, which provides an international and interdisciplinary forum for research on on-demand online labor. This year, we welcome John Horton (MIT Sloan School of Management) as keynote speaker.
Please send your paper or extended abstract to crowdworkingprotect me ?!uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de by July 15, 2021. Authors will be informed about the outcome of their submission by August 1, 2021.
There is no conference fee and the conference will be held online. The Crowdworking symposium is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the research project ‘Crowdsourcing as a New Form of Organizing Labor Relations.’

2nd Crowdworking Symposium - „Ability - Motivation - Opportunities for Digital Work“
On July 9-10 2020 the University of Paderborn hosts the 2nd Crowdworking Symposium which provides an international and interdisciplinary forum for research on crowdworking. The symposium is organized by the research program “Digital Future” – a joint project of the Universities of Paderborn and Bielefeld.
Researchers in various fields including economics business administration human resource management in- formation systems computer science sociology psychology innovation and law are invited to submit an ex- tended abstract. Several sessions provide scholars with the opportunity to present their academic research ontopics related to the emerging fields of crowdsourcing crowd work cloud work gig work online freelancing and other forms of on-demand labor. Presenters will receive valuable feedback from fellow researchers.
A keynote will be provided by Alessandro Bozzon Professor and Chair of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) Delft University of Technology: “Challenges and Opportunities in Knowledge Crowdsourcing“.

On Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, the Bremen-Shanghai Research Conference will take place at the University of Bremen. During the conference, scholars from Shanghai University and University of Bremen will present their research papers and discuss them. The goal of the conference is to increase the international academic exchange between business and economics scholars. After a delegation from the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics from the University of Bremen visited Shanghai University last year, this year Chinese scholars are invited to Bremen to engage in academic exchange.
This year twelve scholars will present their latest research in the field of business, management, and economics. In addition to the presentations, short breaks between the presentations provide the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas.
The conference takes place at the University of Bremen (WiWi2 Building, Room 4090).

7th Crowdinvesting Symposium
This year’s Crowdinvesting Symposium will take place at the Humboldt University in Berlin / Germany. Researchers in the fields of economics, business administration, innovation and law are encouraged to submit a paper. Several workshops provide scholars with the opportunity to present their research on topics related to the emerging field of FinTech and to get feedback from fellow researchers. As this year’s keynote speaker, we welcome Professor Mingfeng Lin, who is an Associate Professor at the Scheller College of Business – Georgia Institute of Technology. Veranstaltung zu digitalem Wandel
im Rahmen der Verbundforschungsinitiative „Worlds of Contradiction“
Am 16. und 17.11.2018 fand im Rahmen der Verbundforschungsinitiative „Worlds of Contradiction“ eine Veranstaltung zu Online-Plattformen statt. Auf Einladung von Prof. Benedikt Buchner, Prof. Sebastian Kolbe, Prof. Ursula Rust (FB 6) und Prof. Lars Hornuf (FB 7) diskutierten an der Universität Bremen Forschende gemeinsam mit externen Expert/inn/en und Interessierten in interdisziplinärer Perspektive die Konsequenzen der Plattformökonomie für Arbeit, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Die Teilnehmenden erhielten durch Referent/inn/en der Universitäten Bielefeld und Paderborn sowie der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg Einblick in laufende Forschungsvorhaben. Deutlich wurde der Bedarf für interdisziplinäre Kooperation von Geistes-, Rechts-, Sozial- und Technikwissenschaften, um angemessene Antworten auf die Herausforderungen des digitalen Wandels zu finden.
Die Veranstaltung soll ein Einstieg in zukünftige Forschungsinitiativen und -zusammenarbeiten sein.
