Katarina Kušić ist Postdoktorandin am Institut für Interkulturelle und Internationale Studien der Universität Bremen. Ihr aktuelles Forschungsprojekt, das vom Zentralen Forschungsförderungsfonds der Universität Bremen finanziert wird, untersucht die internationalen politischen Landökologien auf dem Balkan. Dieses Projekt konzentriert sich auf die verschiedenen Arten, in denen Menschen und Politiken mit Böden und Land in Beziehung stehen.
Sie arbeitet außerdem an einer Monographie mit dem Titel Subjects beyond Intervention: Politik der Verbesserung in Serbien. Diese Forschungsarbeit, die auf dem an der Universität Aberystwyth abgeschlossenen Promotionsprojekt basiert, geht von der Auseinandersetzung mit Jugendlichen und landwirtschaftlichen Erzeugern in Serbien aus, um das Konzept der internationalen Intervention zu untersuchen. Es wird argumentiert, dass die konzeptionellen Parameter der Intervention einschränkend sind, wenn es darum geht, die Menschen einzubeziehen, die mit den Folgen internationaler Interventionen leben. sie schlägt daher eine Politik der Verbesserung als konzeptionelle Alternative vor. Katarina Kušić interessiert sich außerdem besonders für Feldforschung und interpretative Methoden sowie für postkoloniales und dekoloniales Denken und Handeln auf dem Balkan und in Osteuropa im Allgemeinen.
Bevor sie an die Universität Bremen kam, war sie Postdoktorandin an der Universität Aberystwyth (finanziert durch ein Postdoktorandenstipendium des Economic and Social Research Council UK) und Dozentin an der Universität Bristol. Darüber hinaus hatte sie Gaststipendien an der Universität Rijeka, der Universität Wien, der Universität Graz und der Universität Belgrad.
Katarina ist Kommunikationsbeauftragte des Journal of International Relations and Development und Mitbegründerin der Arbeitsgruppe Südosteuropa bei der British International Studies Association.
