Prof. Margarita Balmaceda presented her new book “Russian Energy Chains: The Remaking of Technopolitics from Siberia to Ukraine to the European Union” (Columbia University Press) at the last session of the IERP Economic Colloquim on July 19, 2022.

The book provides a comprehensive picture of the incentives and interests of political and economic actors along the entire value chain of Russian energy exports – from production to processing, transportation and marketing. The presentation was particularly relevant in the view of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the looming energy crisis.

Margarita Balmaceda is Professor of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University and Associate of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies and of the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University.
