The safety training (in English) with practical fire-fighting exercises will take place as a compulsory event for new students of the study programmes with practical laboratory contents.

Hier die Inhaltsübersicht dieser Vorlesung:
• Functionality and components of a rocket engine
• Introduction to characteristic parameters
• Overview of rocket engine types (chemical, nuclear, electrical)
• Thermodynamic basics of jet nozzle flow
• Nozzle design
• Liquid rocket engines: propellants, cycles, combustion chamber (geometry, injector elements, fuel processing, cooling concepts), turbo pump systems
• Solid rocket motors: components, propellant types, internal ballistics, designing the combustion surface with regard to the thrust profile, fuel production

Several topics on applied numerical fluid mechanics will be introduced in the lecture. These topics are about modeling of turbulence flows, multi-phase flows, species transport and finite-rate chemistry, convection in porous media. A specific topic on numerical fluid mechanics will be given based on the interests of the students. The students will learn how to simulate flow problems using the open source CFD package, OpenFoam. The students will also know the up-to-date research work in numerical fluid mechanics. The lecture will be given in English.
