Drawing on years of research on far-right protests, Piotr Kocyba and Sebastian Sommer reflect onencounters ranging from hostility and exclusion to unexpected trust andhospitality. In a dialogical keynote, they discuss how to negotiate positionality, access, and ethical responsibility while studying a politically charged and constantly changing field. The keynote is part of the workshop Protest*Ethnography, organised by the DVPW Working Group “Political Ethnography” in cooperation with the Horizon Project “Protest as a Democracy Test: Protest Culture Under Transformation and as a Transformative Power”.
