In the Framework of the Cluster of Excellence “The Ocean Floor – Earth’s Uncharted Interface” hosted by MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen, we organize an international symposium series on ocean-floor processes. The symposium brings together international experts in the field with members of the Cluster, providing a platform for the exchange and discussion of scientific results about ocean-floor processes.
The third Ocean Floor Symposium has the topic “Organic matter transportation, transformation, and preservation: From the ocean surface to the ocean floor" and will take place from September 8 to 11th, 2025 at the University of Bremen.
The overarching topic of understanding organic matter transportation, transformation and preservation. The symposium was organized along the following themes:
- Transformation in the water column: Opening the black box of POM and DOM
- Lateral transport: from shelf to deep sea
- From process to projection: Modelling of carbon transformation and fluxes
