Eva Knopf is a filmmaker and lecturer for artistic-aesthetical practice in photography and film/video at the University of Bremen's Institute for Art History - Film Studies - Art Education since April 2020.
Eva Knopf received an M.A. in Cultural (Ethnology) and Media Studies from Georg-August Universität, Göttingen, studied Film and Television Studies at Universiteit van Amsterdam for one semester, and was a post-graduate student with Kaja Silverman and Trinh T. Minh-ha at University of California at Berkeley. She defended her doctoral thesis on essay films and the colonial image archive at the University of Hamburg.
Parallel to her academic work Eva Knopf studied directing at the film academy Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg. She shot several long documentary films, among them "Myanmarket" (2016), "Majub's Journey" (2013) and "Juju Movie - Get Rich or Die Trying" (2011), that were shown at international film festivals and German public broadcasters and won several awards. For many years Eva Knopf worked as a projectionist in different art house theaters.
