Thermal insulation panels made of cellulose-based waste material
Aim of this project is the development of ecological exterior insulation panels for buildings as alternative for commercial insulation materials. Commonly used insulation materials are made of expanded polystyrene, contain problematic substances and are hardly recyclable. Our approach for solving this problem is to reuse dusty, cellulose-based residuals, which are produced during waste paper recycling. This residuals are reused for manufacturing novel paper panels. The upcycling leads to a product that in turn is easily recyclable. In addition, the panels contribute to reduce waste and store CO2 for long term. Finally the CO2 emissions are reduced by energy saving in buildings.
