Other than cycling, the cheapest way to get around in Bremen is using the BSAG (Bremen bus and tram system).You can find ticket types, prices, as well as timetables and connections on the BSAG website or on the VBN-FahrPlaner App.
Individual assistance can be provided at the BSAG customer service center at the train station or at the tram stop Domsheide (city center). Tickets can be purchased at these locations, kiosks, or directly on the bus or tram.
A single ticket for adults costs 2,80 euros. You can also buy tickets in sheets of 4 or 10 at a lower price in the service centers or kiosks. It is also possible to purchase weekly, monthly or yearly passes. Please note that you need to buy an additional ticket if you are taking a bicycle or a dog on the bus/tram with you.
If you don't like to travel by bus or train and don't own a bike, you can rent bicycles in Bremen. The WK-Bikes are located at various locations in Bremen and can be used inexpensively after a free registration for single rides. If you prefer having a bike for a long term, you can either buy one at local bikestores or flea markets or rent one, e.g. by registering for Swapfiets - if you have a valid student ID, you'll get a discount.
For the rest of Germany there is the regional or national trains through Deutsche Bahn. To receive information or purchase tickets you can go online or go to the train station customer service centre for individual assistance.
It is recommended to use the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket for 44 Euro, which allows you to travel through Germany on as many regional trains as you like for a day. When you travel with up to four additional people, the cost is only 8 Euro per person.
The Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, for 40 Euro, is the same as the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket but used only on a weekend day, and covers up to 5 travellers.
With the Länder-Ticket, which is priced from 23 euros, you can travel within a state for a day, with up to 5 people (4 Euro per additional person).
