Due to the tides - low and high - the mudflats are exposed and washed over again twice a day by the sea water. Large parts of the Wadden Sea off the Dutch, Danish and German coasts have even been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. Together with an experienced guide, we will explore the mudflats off Cuxhaven and learn a lot about the North Sea.
For the mudflat hike you need the stamina to walk through the mudflats for about 2.5 hours. Normal basic fitness is sufficient for this. Please wear flat, laced trainers that may get dirty. We also recommend sun protection such as sun cream, hat etc. and long clothing if necessary, as it can be windier than on the mainland.
