The department "Applied and Structural Mechanics" (FG15) in the Faculty 4 "Production Engineering" of the University of Bremen is part of the Bremen In­sti­tute for Me­cha­nical En­gi­nee­ring (bime).

In the field of research, we deal with surface structures, fracture mechanics, material mechanics and damage mechanics.

And in teaching we give lectures on Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Structural Mechanics in Lightweight Construction and Finite Element Methods.

New Head of Department

Since April 1, 2022, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patrick Kurzeja has been strengthening our team as Head of Department.

In this summer semester 2022, he will hold the basic lectures "Engineering Mechanics 2" in the Engineering and Management PE program as well as the advanced lectures "Strength of Materials I" and "Strength of Materials II - Inelastic Materials and their Modeling".
