The department "Applied and Structural Mechanics" (FG15) in the Faculty 4 "Production Engineering" of the University of Bremen is part of the Bremen Institute for Mechanical Engineering (bime).

Our research focuses on the mechanics of complex materials, with a particular emphasis on numerical and stochastic micromechanics.

We offer courses applied mechanics, advanced strength of materials, simulation methods, and microstructure mechanics in our teaching.

News

New junior professor in the department.

Effective April 1, 2026, Professor Max Krause took over the department, succeeding Professor Kienzler. Professor Krause now teaches the Applied Mechanics course and conducts research in materials and microstructure mechanics.
