Prof. Dr. Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo as panelist at United Nations Session

Prof. Dr. Rosa Cordillera A. Castillo was a panelist at the United Nations 67th Session on Narcotics Drugs in Vienna on March 19, 2024.

Together with Mo Box Philippines, Desinstitute Brazil, Open Society Foundation, Kuza Trust Kenya, Whare Tukutuku New Zealand, Instituto AMMA Psique e Negritude Brazil, and Hayat Malaysia, the bilingual panel "Treatment of Trap? Tratamento ou Armadilha" raised crucial issues on the current dominant drugs treatment paradigm - its racist, colonial, and punitive logics - and proposed a model for genuine and compassionate care with insights coming especially from global South perspectives that are often side-lined in such discussions. They closed the panel with an emphasis on why this matters for our collective efforts in global policy reform.
