Vaccination Campaign on the University of Bremen Campus during the Orientation Week

Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, October 11, and Tuesday, October 12, as well as between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, October 18, and Tuesday, October 19, a vaccination bus will be parked in the campus’ Central Area.

Students and Staff can get their vaccination with either the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the BioNTech vaccine there. Students from non-EU countries, who have been vaccinated with a vaccine that is not approved by the EU, can get an mRNA vaccination here four weeks after their last jab. This vaccination bus offer is, of course, also available to all staff members.

Opportunity to Be Tested for Free

The federal states have decided that there will be no free rapid tests for unvaccinated people from October 11 onwards, as all citizens have now had the opportunity to get their vaccination. In the sense of occupational safety, the University of Bremen will, however, offer tests to unvaccinated and non-recovered staff in its own test center. You can make an appointment by phoning +49 421 218-60135 or 60137.

During the orientation week from October 11 to 15, 2021, students who are not yet fully vaccinated will also have the opportunity to be tested for free at the university’s own test center on the Boulevard. This also applies to exchange students who are not yet fully vaccinated or are not vaccinated with an EU-approved vaccine.

From October 16 onwards, the free tests will only be available to students who a) are waiting for their first vaccination appointment after having already been vaccinated with a non-EU approved vaccine, b) find themselves in the waiting period for full vaccination status after having had their first vaccination.

Entry Checks and Contact Chain Determination

When the semester starts, it is important that controlled building entry is ensured. Thus, it is planned that security staff will carry out entry checks at entryways using the CovPassCheck app or other forms of proof. This will most certainly lead to waiting times during busy periods. We will, however, try to keep said waiting times as short as possible.

In order to enable contact chain determination in seminars and lectures, we will be using the Gast-Bremen app. At the beginning of the class, students and teaching staff must log in to the class and learning space via the app or website and said groups must log out again at the end. The classrooms are currently still being fitted with QR codes that can then be scanned. Students who do not own a smartphone can check in using the phones of friends, as the Gast-Bremen makes it possible to register more than one person.
