In the area of load- and structure-driven product development, structures are analyzed and designed and methods for the design are developed. The focus here is on wind turbines.

The behavior of large components such as the tower or the rotor blades during installation and under extreme operating loads is being investigated.

The following topics are being researched:

  • Design and analysis of offshore structures, in particular wind turbines
  • Statistical analysis of environmental conditions to define load cases
  • Analysis of the oscillation behavior of structures, in particular wind turbines

Projects

  • WindIO - Concept and design of a cyber-physical system for the holistic development of wind turbines - Sub-project: Acquisition, provision and processing of operating data for modeling the mechanical and electrical behavior of a wind turbine
     
  • REFINE  - Tower structure for future wind turbines - Sub-project: Aeroelastic analysis, sensorization and economic consideration of tower structures of wind turbines
