Digital Partnership – an Answer to the Coronavirus

What do you do when cooperation activities with partner universities come to an abrupt halt due to the coronavirus? Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, is one of the partner universities with which the University of Bremen has started hosting joint virtual workshops.

The plan is to not only maintain contact and exchange but also to discuss ideas on how future cooperation can be developed in the digital sphere, for example through online guest lectures in seminars and other classes, joint digital workshops and training courses, and hackathon projects. In an initial virtual meeting with Mahidol University, it became clear quickly that the current situation also serves a digital added value that would not have been realized this fast otherwise. Mahidol University with its approximately 30,000 students is considered one of the most renowned in the country and always places among the best institutions in university rankings.
