Data Protection

In order to make the contact chain reconstruction as simple and quick as possible, the University of Bremen has decided to use the Gast-Bremen app for the digital reconstruction. The use of this app is voluntary. We would like to inform you of our data protection terms with regard to the usage of the Gast-Bremen app here.

Who Has Access to My Data?

We process your data as it is recommended within the relevant laws on infection protection and measures for the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic. The legal foundation is consent as per §6(1)(a) GDPR.

If you check in at a Gast-Bremen location, only the hosts and their nominated staff have access the data.

At the University of Bremen said party is:

Universität Bremen
Bibliothekstraße 1
28359 Bremen
Phone +49 421 218-1
Email: coronaschutzprotect me ?!vw.uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de

The Gast-Bremen app provider (abat+) can also access the data if required. However, this only occurs if it is necessary for debugging and is done in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

In the frame of corona contact tracking, your data may be passed on to the responsible authorities, if this is required in accordance with the relevant laws and measures in place. This is the case if an infected person was on campus.

Which Data Does the University of Bremen Save?

We only receive the data that you and your accompanying person(s) have saved in the app and passed on to us by checking in. This usually includes: you surname, first name, and phone number. Entering your address is optional. We also save the location and time of your visit.

How Long Is the Data Saved?

Your personal data is automatically deleted after the period of time stated in the relevant laws on infection protection and measures for the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic (after one month at the latest).

Are There Disadvantages for Users Using the Web Registration?

In principle, web registration works like the app. You enter the contact details and these are passed on when you log in. The difference to the app is that you have to enter your contact data again when you log on to the website, as it is not saved permanently like in the app. Additionally, there is no manual logging out required when using the web registration, this happens automatically overnight.

GDPR - Rights of the Data Subject

You are fully entitled to all data subject rights of the GDPR, especially the Right of Access by the Data Subject (§15 GDPR), Right to Rectification (§16 GDPR), Right to Erasure (§17 GDPR), Right to Restriction of Processing (§18 GDPR). Right to Data Portability (§20 GDPR), and the Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority (§77 GDPR).
