Trained in igneous petrology and inorganic geochemistry I began my scientific career with examining processes of mantle melting and magmatic differentiation in mid-ocean ridge and back-arc basin settings. In the past decade, the focus of my research has been on hydrothermal systems and their relevance in global geochemical cycles. My research approach is a combination of instrumental analytics, petrographic observations, and thermodynamic modelling. Specific emphasis has been on fluid-rock interactions and their role in metal deposit formation and microbial habitat development.
