Overview

Eleven international experts, leading figures in their scientific field, work together with their hosting professors in Bremen and other researchers at the University of Bremen in the U Bremen Excellence Chair Program. Upon their nomination, they receive membership rights granted by the Rector, such as the right to supervise doctoral students at the University.

University-wide U Bremen Excellence Chairs, funded from by the university allowance, are appointed for three years and will be supported from 2026 to 2028. Further three-year calls for applications are planned for the coming years. Additionally, Excellence Chairs are also located in the two Clusters of Excellence at the University of Bremen.
