The process of Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) of a Satellite is one of the main steps of its whole life cycle. While this time, the single parts are physical and electrical connected and tested as one component.
DigiTwinAIT
Augmented Reality and model-based AIT-Support

Assembly, integration and test for satellites
Within the project methods for augmented reality will be developed to support the AIT-process of a satelite. Within this project funded by the german space agency within the german aerospace center(DLR) the combination of model-based systems engineering providing a digital twin of a satellite and augmented reality (AR) shall be used to support workers within cleanrooms by creating shared work environments.
Supporting satellite construction with digital twins using model-driven engineering
Satellite construction is a largely human centered process that is divided in many dependent sections. Digital transformation of this area carries great importance as showcased by the focus of the sector NewSpace Initiative.
Our vision for this transformation of space industry is conceptualized by Engineering Metaverse, “Any data, anywhere, anytime.”
This would be achieved via bridging model-driven engineering support forAIT, through Digital Twins paving the way for:
- Inter-connected visualizations across all phases through Augmented Reality (AR)
- Testing via simulated components
- Remote collaboration
