“future concepts bremen” are digital innovation projects at the University of Bremen that implement the basic principles of research-based learning and are intended to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology to business and society. future concepts offers students the opportunity to study in a practice-oriented way, to develop their professional and personal skills, and to collect career-building contacts with future employers.

Over the course of 100 days, students from various disciplines work with non-profit, public and private sector organisations and companies to develop innovative concepts and solutions for the digital transformation of Bremen as a business hub.

Practice partners benefit from the approach to digital transformation, where relevant topics are looked at anew or investigated in more depth. The collaboration with students and researchers provides additional capacity to work on these issues. Ideas are exchanged and methods of agile working are applied and further developed. These projects can also support recruiting.

Since the start of future concepts bremen in 2017, more than 100 digital innovation projects have been realised by teams drawn from over 100 companies and 400 students.

future concepts bremen is organised as a teaching format every semester by the Chair in Small Business & Entrepreneurship (LEMEX) at the University of Bremen’s Faculty of Business Studies and Economics, and is carried out and presented as part of a public Demo Day. The projects are co-initiated and funded by Bremen’s Senator for Economy, Labour and Europe (SWAE).
