Make sense – go funding
When it comes to donors and foundations, most people think of the big ones: Bill & Melinda Gates, the Körber Foundation or German political party foundations. But there are other ways to make a difference. On the occasion of the university's 50th anniversary, the University of Bremen Foundation has launched an initiative that invites you to participate in numerous ways – and also to donate. The motto: Make sense.
Donating doesn’t have to mean big money. "We invite everyone who wants to join us in generating enthusiasm for science and research to become a donor. Even with small amounts, you can contribute to the university foundation and really make a difference," says Dr. Christina Jung, Managing Director of the University of Bremen Foundation. The foundation supports academic projects at the University of Bremen that address the pressing issues of our time: education, diversity and integration, climate and environmental protection, digitalisation, medicine and health, international understanding and peace. Past support includes funding for the World Coral Reef Conference, which was organised virtually from Bremen this year, and the Berninghausen Prize for excellence in teaching.
In the university’s anniversary year, the "Golden Plietsch" is doing project funding in a whole new way. A total of 30,000 euros has been awarded so far, with the support of the Alumni Association, for bold and innovative projects that tackle future challenges. On 1 November, prizes will be publicly awarded, with the participation of the audience.
