The University of Bremen’s broad understanding of transfer also includes open, research-based exchange between academia and industry. Since its founding, the University of Bremen has been committed to taking on social responsibility and actively contributing to economic development—both regionally and beyond. Collaborations with companies play a central role in this: they combine scientific expertise with practical challenges and open up new perspectives for innovation and application.

As a university with a strong research focus and a broad range of disciplines, the University of Bremen offers diverse opportunities for collaboration. Faculty and students are interested in engaging in dialogue with companies, conducting joint research, and applying scientific knowledge. Transfer is practiced across all departments and reflects the diversity of academic disciplines as much as the different needs and perspectives of our partners. Cooperation and exchange form the foundation for sustainable development and shared success.

Transfer Strategy

The University of Bremen views transfer as a broad-based, consistently research-driven exchange process that involves cooperation and dialogue between its scientists in research and teaching with actors from society, culture, education, politics, and business. Following an intensive process of participation and discussion, the Academic Senate passed the University of Bremen’s transfer strategy in July 2019. This strategy once again underscores the great importance of knowledge and technology transfer at the University of Bremen. At the same time, the general university strategy for 2018–2028 is being specified for the field of transfer.
