Offers for young researchers

The University of Bremen offers students of all ages many opportunities to gain insights into STEM fields as well as other academic disciplines. They can attend events and work on individual projects with researchers. School groups as well as individual children and teenagers have the chance here to discover science and conduct their own research.

Kids' University

Science and research are absolutely fascinating—and that’s exactly what children ages 8 to 12 get to experience at the Bremen Children’s University.

With lectures for school classes and small-group workshops during school breaks.

Girls' Day

For the annual Girls’ Day—a day dedicated to girls’ future careers—the University of Bremen offers a comprehensive program with more than 250 spots across a wide range of fields in mathematics, the natural sciences, computer science, and engineering. All participants in Girls’ Day must first register and select one of the many projects available.

Boys' Day

For the annual Boys’ Day—a career exploration day for boys—the University of Bremen offers a comprehensive program with more than 100 spots available across a wide range of fields. All participants in Boys’ Day must first register and select one of the many projects.

Mathematics: A Field of the Future

Technological progress would be unthinkable without mathematics. But mathematics often works behind the scenes. On Math Day, we introduce high school students to various applications of mathematics in industry and research.

IdeenExpo

IdeenExpo 2026

From June 20 to 28, 2026, the exhibition grounds in Hannover will once again be all about the motto “Just give it a try!” IdeenExpo 2026 invites visitors to discover technology and the natural sciences in a very special way. At the hands-on stations, visitors of all ages can get involved and learn more about the world of STEM careers. This year, the University of Bremen will be represented with a booth alongside Bremen University of Applied Sciences and Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. We’ll offer exciting insights into various academic departments as well as information about studying in the state of Bremen.

Explore Science 2026

From September 10 to 12, 2026, Explore Science STEM Experience Days will take place for the eighth time at Bürgerpark in Bremen. This year’s theme is “Inventions and Discoveries.” Over the course of three days, you can discover and experience the colorful world of science through numerous hands-on stations, workshops, stage performances, and competitions. At the University of Bremen’s booth, we’ll be exploring questions like these: How does the brain work? Can I eat algae? What exactly is a ball bearing, and why is it so practical? Who was Bremen’s first female pilot? And how can I become an inventor or explorer myself?

Fall Internship at the Bremen Technology Park

An exciting opportunity—perhaps in research, business, administration, or a completely different field—does this sound like your dream job?

From October 12 to 16, high school students in 10th grade and above can participate in workshops at various companies and institutions in the Bremen Technology Park and get a first glimpse into potential careers. Among the participating organizations are various institutes and departments at the University of Bremen.
