Congratulations on 25 years of service
On 1 September 2022, Antje Kautz could look back on 25 years of public service. Since 1997, she has been an assistant at the Institute Centre for European Law and Policy (ZERP), which has been part of the Faculty of Law since January 2009. In addition, Ms Kautz has been a member of the web team for almost ten years and takes care of the maintenance and expansion of our website. We would like to sincerely thank her for the many years together and look forward to further good cooperation at the faculty!
2nd Second Virtual Expert Conference on Species Protection Law a Great Success!
On Friday, 16 December 2022, the Second Virtual Expert Conference on Species Protection Law took place. The conference, which was organised by the WWF Germany and the Research Centre for Animal Rights and Animal Welfare Law, directed by Prof. Dr. Sönke Gerhold, was very well received by experts in the field and fully lived up to the expectations of the 359 participants.
Doctoral Awards Ceremony 2022
On 24 November, this year's Doctoral Awards Ceremony of the Faculty of Law took place at Bremen Town Hall, in the impressive Fireplace Room. Following a welcoming address of Staatsrat Bernd Tschöpe at the Senator's for Justice and Constitution and a ceremonial address of the Vice Dean of the Faculty Prof. Claudio Franzius, the doctoral degree certificates were handed out to the seven doctoral graduates present.
International Academy of Comparative Law: General Report on the Liability of Credit Rating Agencies
The XXIth World Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law was held in Asunción, Paraguay, from October 23 to 28, 2022. Patrick C. Leyens has been appointed general rapporteur of the XXVIth section on „The Liability of Credit Rating Agencies".
Theodor Körner Award (Stefan Heiss)
Stefan Heiss has received the Theodor Körner Award for his dissertation project. The Theodor Körner Fund supports rising scientists from a wide range of disciplines. Laureates have already done excellent work in their fields and further innovative work can be expected. The prize was presented by the Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen (on the right in the picture). Stefan Heiss's project was the only work in the field of law to receive an award.
Successful participation of the Faculty in the Justus-Liebig Moot Court
For the first time, the Faculty of Law of the University of Bremen took part in the Justus-Liebig Moot Court this year. The competition, which was jointly organised for the eleventh time by the Lawyers' Association Frankfurt and the Chair of Prof. Dr. Martin Gutzeit of the Universitý of Gießen, has taken place every year since 2011 in the form of simulated civil proceedings before a German court.
Annual Conference of the Association for Infrastructure Law (VIR) on 8 September 2022
The Conference deals with legal and practical questions regarding the conversion to zero-emission mobility in public transport and motorised individual transport. It is aimed at practitioners as well as scientists in the fields of transport and climate protection and will take place at the Haus der Bürgerschaft in Bremen.
