The faculty’s main research areas also include the digital transformation, which raises legal challenges across virtually all fields of law and is also reshaping legal practice and even the legal system itself.

The diverse range of issues is the focus of numerous disciplinary and interdisciplinary research projects of the faculty. These include studies of autonomous shipping and price algorithms at the Institute for Commercial Law, and research into new forms of employments, which, for example in the platform economy, entail significant implications for work relations and the system of statutory social insurance, at the Bremen Institute for Gender, Labour and Social Law. In administrative law, the focus lies on digital administrative procedures; in criminal law, on cybercrime.

The research findings are integrated into teaching in all areas of specialisation and make it possible to develop adequate responses to a wide range of practical legal questions.
