Digitalisation

The main research areas of the faculty also include the digital transformation, which raises issues in virtually all fields of law, but is also changing legal work and even the legal system as such.

The respective, very diverse issues are in the focus of numerous disciplinary and interdisciplinary research projects of the faculty. These include studies of autonomous shipping and price algorithms at the Institute for Commercial Law, and research into new forms of employments, which, for example in the platform economy, entail significant implications for work relations and also the system of statutory social insurance, at the Bremen Institute for Gender, Labour and Social Law. In the field administrative law, this concerns digital administrative procedures, in criminal law cybercrimes.

The research findings are incorporated into teaching in all areas of specialisation and make it possible to find adequate solutions to numerous practical questions.
