Why Study Law in Bremen?

At our Faculty, students can choose between six different areas of specialisation (Foundations of Law, International and European Economic Law, Labour and Social Law in International and Supranational Context, Environmental and Public Economic Law, Criminal Law and Criminal Policy in Europe, Transnational Law). All area of specialisation are characterised by a strong emphasis on academic foundations. Also, courses are closely coordinated with the Faculty's institutes, which guarantees a high quality of academic training.

In addition to traditional legal education, the Faculty of Law offers a further study programme jointly with the University of Oldenburg (Hanse Law School), which consists in a four-year Bachelor's Degree programme (LL.B.) and a subsequent one-year Master's Degree programme (LL.M). The Hanse Law School programme is aimed at students who are interested in an international career, for example in international organisations, European organisations or in multinational companies.

The city has many facets, with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere; it combines history, tradition, science, nature and culture and is as varied as the people who live, work and study here. The campus framework and the renowned research institutions surrounding it provide the prerequisites for successful studies. The campus is situated at the centre of the Bremen Technology Park.

Our Cititzens' Park, where you can go for long walks or row a boat, is situated very close to the University. A few kilometres away from the campus, you can ride your bike or skate through a nature reserve into the picturesque Blockland where you can buy fresh regional products in the farm shops. The Wümme meadows are the perfect place to enjoy a picknic and observe the nature surrounding you. Not far from the campus in an another direction, the  Weser Dyke offers plenty of green spaces where you can meet friends and fellow students. Once a year Bremen celebrates the "Breminale", a music and cultural festival, in this location. Football fans will find the Weser Stadium close by.

The Hochschulsportverein of Bremen University offers a lot of different courses - for you to keep fit and socialise with others: from aqua fitness to kickboxing and bouldering, there's something for everyone.

... because Bremen is also a good place to party!

Exams are a good reason to celebrate, but not the only one. Bremen offers a lot of opportunities to party. The liveliest student and pub scene can be found in the so-called "Viertel". Having spent the afternoon with fellow students at the Weser Dyke, you can enjoy the vibrant nightlife just around the corner. People in Bremen particularly love their large annual funfair, the "Freimarkt", in October and in the time before Christmas, the Schlachtezauber on the Weser River is  Germany's most beautiful Christmas market. Markets and festivals such as the "Breminale" and "La Strada" offer plenty of entertainment during the semester break. Those interested in culture will find a colourful mix of museums, exhibitions, theatres and concert venues. There is always something going on in the city!
