Juridicum

The Juridicum is a decentralised library of the State and University Library Bremen. As a reference library, it provides the Faculty of Law and the University of Bremen with legal literature. 

The staff at the information desk will be pleased to provide further information on the use of the library, the services or the legal collections.

Clopsure at the turn of the year 2025/2026

The Juridicum will be closed from Monday, 22 December 2025 to Thursday, 1 January 2026.

The renowned legal data base Beck online of C.H. Beck Publishers allows users to search in different modules on several fields of law. It includes, among others, the publisher's own commentaries, handbooks or journals as well as federal law published by Nomos.

Juris Logo

The legal online portal Juris offers access to more than 6 million legislative texts as well as a comprehensive collection of German and European case law.

The Nomos eLibrary offers access to legal literature published by Nomos and includes publications from the fields of labour law, criminal law, civil law or commercial and economic law.

Westlaw International is a global legal research library providing access to more than 28.000 data bases on case law, legislation, agreements and directories of Anglo-American countries and the European Union.

The database HeinOnline comprises more than 186 million pages and 287.000 titles of historical and official North American legal documents, including the entire Congressional Record, the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations.

The online portal of academic publishers de Gruyter allows users to search and access licensed de Gruyter publications, including for example the journal JURA and the Leipzig StGB Commentary.

Study spaces

The Juridicum offers a large number of individual, group or lounge study spaces.

Computer workstations

Three public computer workstations are available in the library where you can research on the internet or work on pdf files or Office documents. A library card is required to access these workstations.   

In addition, we offer three places equipped with monitors where you can use your own device.

For a quick research in our catalogue without logging in, you can use the kiosk PC near the reference desk.

Copy delivery service (service for members of Bremen universities)

The SuUB offers an order service for papers from its print journals and excerpts from books of the central library and the Juridicum. This service is available for all members of Bremen universities. Further information can be found here.

Printing, copying,scanning 

You have the opportunity to use a book scanner free of charge. This service is intended to support the switch from paper to digital formats. Scanned pages can be sent to your e-mail address or stored on your USB flash drive.

In addition, two devices for printing and copying and scanning are available for a fee. One device can be used exclusively through the Kuario app, the other with a copycard  which can be purchased at the library.

The Juridicum is a reference library and, in general, books are not loaned out. However, books (H-jur-signatures) can be checked out by our users with valid library cards by special request.

Journals (Z jur), loose-leaf collections (D02 jur), decision collections (E jur) and bibliographies are not loaned out.

 

How can I return my library books?

Books can be returned during opening hours, alternatively at other locations of the SuUB.
