The University of Bremen understands transfer as a broad-based, research-driven exchange process that involves cooperation and dialogue between its scientists in research and teaching with actors from society, culture, education, politics and economics. Following an intensive participation and discussion process, the Academic Senate passed the University of Bremen's transfer strategy in July 2019. This strategy once again emphasises the great importance of knowledge and technology transfer at the University of Bremen. At the same time, it specifies the general university strategy for 2018-2028 in relation to the topic of transfer.

Bremen Kids' University

In 2026, Bremen Kids' University will once again invite curious children aged 8 to 12 to become researchers themselves. This year's Bremen Kids' University will take place from March 17 to 26, with a colorful program of over 20 lectures, various discovery tours, and more than 30 workshops.

The lectures give children insights into current research and the work of scientists. The workshops offer hands-on experiences, encourage curiosity and learning and are a great holiday highlight!

Praxisbörse/Career Fair 2026

For many years, the Praxisbörse has been a successful career fair that helps us strengthen the connection between universities, society and business. We invite you to meet your future employees directly and in person on our campus!
Praxisbörse – the Fair will take place online (company presentations and workshops) on May 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
and as an in-person event on May 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We highlight the potential for innovation at the university and put research into practice. To do so, we support scientists in further developing their research results into technical and social innovations in collaboration with partners from society.

We see ourselves as a Think Tank that picks up on ideas and takes transfer to the next level: With flexible expertise and open, participatory formats, we bring scientific reflection into social debates and develop innovative strategies for knowledge transfer. At the same time, we focus on clear and effective communication – both internal and external. In this way, we make visible what UniTransfer stands for, what opportunities we are opening up and how we bring people and ideas together in a needs-oriented manner.

We are the Transfer Service Center of the University of Bremen and implement the university's Third Mission (Transfer) with clearly defined goals and offerings based on a broad understanding of transfer.
Through our work, we make an important contribution to solving societal challenges and to the scientific excellence of the university. We support all
members of the university, especially scientists, in their transfer activities. We maintain clear, productive interfaces with other departments of the university and our range of services and expertise are present throughout the university. We are well-known, easily accessible and popular contacts for representatives from business and society.

In order to increase the visibility of transfer and express appreciation for transfer activities, the Transfer Prize is awarded and the Transfer Magazine is published on an annual basis.

Transfer Magazine

Whether it's society, culture, education, politics or economics: efficient knowledge and technology transfer from the university is important for innovative developments and economic profiling in a global context and is of great significance at the University of Bremen.

The university contributes to the social and economic development of Bremen through a wide range of activities. The Transfer Magazine provides a variety of insights into the university's knowledge and technology transfer. The magazine is published every two years, alternating with the Transfer Award.

Transfer Award

Transfer at our university is driven primarily by the commitment of its employees, who successfully bridge the gap between science and society through various initiatives and projects, thereby helping to address current challenges. This is where the Transfer Award comes in:

With the Transfer Award, which was presented for the first time in 2024, the University of Bremen aims to recognize outstanding transfer achievements and projects that serve as role models. The award is endowed with 2,000 euros and is presented every two years. The next award ceremony will take place in 2026.

The UniTransfer team brings people, ideas and perspectives together. As an interface for knowledge and technology transfer, we support transfer processes in all directions – from universities to society, business and politics, and vice versa.
