Short Profile
Dirk Lorenz studied mathematics at the University of Bremen, where he earned his Diplom in 2002 and his PhD in 2005.
In 2009, he became an assistant professor of applied analysis at the Technical University of Braunschweig, and in 2013, he was promoted to full professor.
After research stays at the University of California, UCLA, and the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute in North Carolina, he returned to the University of Bremen in 2023 as a professor of applied and industrial mathematics, where he became deputy director of the Center for Industrial Mathematics in 2024.
In 2024 and 2025, he served as Vice Chair of the Mathematics of Data Science Activity Group of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
