OPEN CAMPUS

  • Open Worlds – Share Knowledge

In the summer of 2013, a new tradition was started at the University of Bremen: the OPEN CAMPUS.

It takes place every two years and invites citizens to get acquainted with the campus and learn about the University’s Faculties, institutes and service facilities.

  • Hands-on science

In the middle of the campus park on OPEN CAMPUS day, a kind of “Open Air Thinking Workshop” takes place. In various exhibition tents, the Faculties, student projects and service facilities present themselves and their work, offering a range of hands-on activities.

  • Shows, lectures and guided tours

Through stage performances, intriguing lectures and in the course of exclusive guided tours, visitors gain unusual insights into the University of Bremen.

  • Children’s Campus

At the Children's Campus, children can carry out experiments themselves and really get a taste of what science means. In addition to the workshops, there is a large play area for younger and older children.

  • Open-air concert in the evening

In the evening, the University invites you to a campus party: We end the day to the sound of music.

OPEN CAMPUS 2019

The University of Bremen invites interested people in and around Bremen to the OPEN CAMPUS on June 15th 2019!

Under the motto "Open Worlds - Share Knowledge" we will show you what we are all about. In more than 40 pagoda tents set up in our campus park faculties, institutes, affiliated institutes, and various central research units will give fascinating insights into their works and projects. Besides an extensive and varied stage program, there will be guided tours and other events, concerts and a poetry slam will take place on the open-air stage. The open air party starts in the evening. The University of Bremen invites everybody to get a closer look behind the study and research scenes.

Barrier-free Accessibility

We attach great importance to making the OPEN CAMPUS as barrier-free as possible. As part of the event planning, we are in intensive contact with experts to make sure this is the case. Our goal is to reduce or remove barriers wherever possible. For example, there are wheelchair-accessible paths over the meadow in the campus park, ramps leading into the pagoda tents, and mobile service teams for individual support. We are, though, always grateful for further tips and suggestions. The project organization team will be happy to provide information on the diverse solutions and offers available.

Photography and Video Recordings

OPEN CAMPUS is a public event where photographers from the University will take pictures and videos. The University reserves the right to use these photos and videos both on its website as well as on its social media platforms. We document and illustrate our event by reporting online and in print.
