From 21–24 May 2025, the 22nd European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) Congress took place in Prague, bringing together researchers and professionals to discuss how work environments are evolving in response to digitalization, social shifts, and organizational change.
This year's theme was “Transforming Working Environments: Challenges & Opportunities.” Fateme Rezaei Badafshani, a PhD researcher in the Diginomics group at the University of Bremen, presented her study “Emotional Contagion in the Digital Workplace: How Follower Anxiety Affects Leader Support.” Conducted in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Julia M. Kensbock and Dr. Katharina Klug, the research explores how anxiety expressed by employees through digital channels can influence leadership behavior in virtual work settings.
The presentation contributed to the broader discussion within the leadership–follower track of the conference. The EAWOP congress offered opportunities for exchange with international researchers working on similar topics. Across sessions, there was shared interest in how digital transformation is affecting the human side of work—an area central to the Diginomics research agenda.
