INTERGON
Funded by the DFG Walter Benjamin Programme, the INTERGON project addresses one of the major challenges limiting the practical application of aqueous zinc-ion batteries: the instability of zinc metal anodes. By developing innovative interfacial engineering strategies based on rationally designed oxygen- and phosphorus-co-doped graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets as functional coating layers, the project aims to regulate zinc deposition, suppress parasitic side reactions, and improve long-term battery performance. Combining advanced materials design with systematic electrochemical evaluation and structural characterization, INTERGON seeks to enhance battery efficiency, extend cycle life, and enable safer, more sustainable, and cost-effective energy storage technologies.
