Our research group is supported by dedicated technical facilities that allow us to bridge the gap between commercial instrumentation and custom experimental needs. We believe in the importance of understanding our tools from the circuit board up.

Sensor Fabrication & Prototyping

We design and build bespoke sensor arrays to suit specific experimental geometries.

• Custom Sensor Arrays: Fabrication of novel sensor arrays for high-resolution measurements of distributed soil temperature and deformation measurements. Development of novel sensing schemes based on low-cost microcontrollers.
• Rapid Prototyping: Integration of 3D printing and electronics for housing new sensor designs.
