When she was 18, Carina Schmitt wanted to write children’s crime novels. But then she did an apprenticeship as a carpenter and dreamed of running her own workshop one day. However, things turned out differently. She ended up studying Political Science and History, submitting her post-doctoral dissertation and in 2017 she became a Professor of Global Social Policy at the University of Bremen.
