WHY is the Stadtbibliothek Bremen there for everyone?

HERE’S WHY – The Stadtbibliothek Bremen (Bremen Public Library) is a center of knowledge for every person in the city. It is inconceivable to think of Bremen without it. With modern, diverse resources available on site as well as digitally, it proves day after day that information produces knowledge. The Stadtbibliothek offers much more than resources, too. It is a “third place” for the city’s people, welcoming them as if it were the city’s living room.

WHY is there a bit of the University of Bremen at the Stadtbibliothek?

HERE’S WHY – The Stadtbibliothek Bremen and University of Bremen have been partners for many years now. Their joint projects and subject areas are as diverse as the two institutions themselves are, from issues involving digitization to media reception as well as urban sociology. Right now, for example, Melike Peterson – a postdoctoral researcher in urban geography – is studying “The Library and the Right to a City”. The project examines the importance of municipal libraries as central places for the public.
