Lazaros Karavasilis ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am InIIS in dem Projekt "Zwischen Populismus und radikaler Demokratie, zwischen Partei und Bewegung: zum diskursiven Nachleben von Platzbewegung", das von Prof. Dr. Martin Nonhoff und Dr. Seongcheol Kim geleitet wird. Er hat vor kurzem seine Promotion am Fachbereich für Internationale Beziehungen, Politik und Geschichte an der Universität Loughborough mit einer Dissertation mit dem Titel "Populismus und andere -ismen. Links- und Rechtspopulismus in Griechenland und Deutschland im Vergleich" abgeschlossen. In seiner Dissertation untersuchte er, wie Parteidiskurse ausgewählter Fälle (SYRIZA und Unabhängige Griechen in Griechenland, Die Linke und AfD in Deutschland) Populismus mit anderen ideologischen Elementen kombinieren und wie Faktoren wie der Zeitraum und der soziopolitische Kontext zu unterschiedlichen Ausdrucksformen des Populismus führen können, die auf verschiedenen Ebenen sichtbar werden.
