Starting Grant from the European Research Council for Julia Borst

Over a period of five years, the Romanist scholar Dr Julia Borst will investigate how Afro-European communities present themselves in the digital space. She has been awarded a prestigious ERC Starting Grant.

Dr Julia Borst has received the Abioseh Porter Best Essay Award 2023 from the African Literature Association

The prize was awarded to the scholar of Romance studies at the annual conference of the African Literature Associationin Knoxville, Tennessee, on 27 May 2023.

A northern campus for France and Francophonie

It will be the northernmost French centre in Germany: Three Romance scholars from the universities of Bremen, Flensburg and Rostock are founding "CaNoFF - Campus Nord für Frankreich & Frankophonie" in the three northern German states. The founding ceremony took place on 8 June 2023 in Bremen City Hall.

Collections from colonial contexts

The SuUB is participating in the nationwide pilot project for the digital cataloguing of collections from colonial contexts in Germany. A contact point is being set up on the initiative of the Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters, the Kulturstiftung der Länder and the Kulturministerkonferenz.
