Master Programs
European Politics, Master of Arts (M.A.)
The program is aimed at students of social sciences who have completed at least 40 CPs in the field of political science in their undergraduate program. In the research-oriented Master European Politics you will acquire empirical knowledge and theoretical and methodological competencies that will enable you to analyze political disputes, political decision-making and policy content in the states of Europe and within the framework of the European Union.

The English-language, research-oriented master's program "International Relations: Global Politics and Social Theory" is designed for graduates in political science, sociology, international relations, or comparable fields of study. It is offered by the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies (InIIS) of the University of Bremen.
morePolitical Science, Master of Arts (M.A.)
The research-oriented Master's study programme in Political Science focuses on four main topics, besides an introduction to research methods and practises: Political Theory, Policy Areas and Public Administration, Comparative Politics and European Integration as well as International Relations. Teaching language is German. A good command of German (C1-Level, e.g. Testdaf 16 Points) and at least 40 ECTS from relevant subfields of political science is a prerequisite for studying this Master's program.

The graduate program Social Policy offers an internationally renowned, two-year curriculum that enables successful candidates to enter into positions in international organizations, government administration, welfare associations or civil society organisations. The interdisciplinary master's degree program includes courses in the origins and development of the welfare state and of civil society and seminars focusing on the analysis of European welfare regimes and the challenges they face within a globalized context. International and comparative social policy and specialized studies in selected areas of social policy as well as the development and effects of social policy measures are also part of the advanced curriculum.

Sociology and Social Research, Master of Arts (M.A.)
Empirical social research shows that the number of well-educated students needed by universities and also by research facilities that do not belong to a university cannot be supplied satisfactorily. For that reason, it is not only in the interest of the Institute of Sociology to train qualified personnel for its own research projects, but is also important in general, since the labor market for sociologically- and empirically-trained graduates with a masters degree is very good. This applies to both publicly-supported research facilities and social research organized by private industry (such as market research and opinion research).

The Master's program prepares students for careers in historical, social scientific, and cultural research, while also providing qualifications for traditional fields of employment for historians, including journalism, public engagement and education, archival work, and museum and exhibition practice. In addition, graduates acquire advanced expertise in diversity and inequality, equipping them for a wide range of professional roles in which diversity competencies are highly valued.
