Application
Admission and Enrolment
Entrance is open to any foreign student with a Bachelor's or comparable (or higher) degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field. The latter means that the majority of the subjects you took in your studies should be related to electrics and electronics. In addition, CIT applicants should prove knowledge in the area of microwave technology and communication engineeing, CMM applicants should prove knowledge in microsystems and automation. German students with a Bachelor degree of a University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule) can be admitted as well.
Students whose native language is not English have two options to demonstrate their knowledge of English:
- with internationally acknowledged English language tests with a result equivalent to the C1 skill level of the European Reference Framework. This condition is fulfilled for example by a TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) score of at least 95 or an IELTS score of at least 7.0.
- If the Bachelor’s (or comparable) degree was obtained in a studying course where the language of instruction was English, proven by a notice on your Bachelor certificate or transcript, or by a confirmation letter from your university, language skills are accepted as sufficient.
Application Deadlines
The application for the April 2025 intake is now open. The deadline is 15th October 2024. This is a hard deadline, extensions are not possible! The admission decision for the April 2024 intake is taken during December 2024 or January 2025.
There are no intakes in the winter semester for beginning MSc CIT/CMM students.
In Case of Admission
Accepted candidates will be informed by e-mail once the decision for them is finalised. A softcopy of the admission letter can then be downloaded from the application portal. In order to finalise the enrolment, the admissions office will ask you to pay the semester contribution and hand in notarised paper copies of your documents.
Students from non-EU member states should note that the letter of admission is needed in order to obtain a German foreign student visa. The visa has to be obtained at the German embassy in the home country before attending studies in Germany. Please be aware of the typical time delays caused by getting an appointment for the visa interview and the processing time of the visa application by the embassy. Contact your local German embassy for precise information about the visa procedure. In order to get your visa in time, it is recommended to apply for the visa as soon as the letter of admission is avaliable.
Tuition
Please note that tuition fees for this course at the university have been waived.
However candidates do need funding for housing and daily expenses. Also an administration fee (semester contribution) of presently about 380 Euro is charged at the beginning of every semester. Estimated monthly expenses for housing and other daily expenses (including compulsory health insurance and administration fee) are at least 800 Euro.
At the time being we cannot provide scholarships. It is in the responsibility of candidates to obtain sufficient funding for the duration of the program. Typically, a proof of sufficient funding is mandatory in order to get an immigrant visa from a German embassy. A limited number of funding opportunities are available within research projects of our university.
