Courses

The topical curriculum has the following kinds of courses:

  • Compulsory courses: You have to attend them and you have to pass the exam.
  • Elective courses: You can choose from the list given in the Course Catalogue (Vorlesungsverzeichnis) given in the Web. You have to attend and pass the number as given in the curriculum, but you are free to choose which courses and when. In agreement with the Master Examination Board, other courses can also be chosen.
  • German language course: You must attend the German language course. There are no marks, but you need a certificate of successful attendance. The number of participants is limited, so register as soon as possible. If you cannot participate in the first semester, there is a waiting list and you will be able to participate in the next semester to obtain your credits.
  • Labs: Experimental work in labs is as indicated in the curriculum.
  • Project: The project is a scientific assignment with a volume equivalent to half a semester. It consists of the scientific work, the written report and an oral presentation.
  • Master Thesis: The master thesis is a scientific assignment with a volume equivalent to one semester. It consists of the scientific work, the written report and an oral presentation.

After the second semester you must plan the courses for the rest of your study and write a study plan. For examples of study plans ask at the master office, please. It must be signed by Prof. Lang. If you change your plans, the change must again be documented and signed.
