15.10.2021: We are pleased to announce the start of a new project "Mixtox" financed by UBA, the German Federal Environmental Agency. During the next three years we will develop a procedure that allows including potential mixture toxicity effects of contaminants when evaluating contaminated soils.

Pflanzenschutzmittel: Forscherteam fordert Umdenken. Die Zulassungspraxis von Pflanzenschutzmitteln verfehlt die angestrebten Umweltstandards und trägt zum Verlust von biologischer Vielfalt bei. Deshalb fordert eine internationale Expertenguppe unter Beteiligung der Universität Bremen eine Veränderung des Zulassungsverfahrens.

01.06.2018: Plant Protection and Environment - Due to recent dramatic declines especially of bees and other insects and the recent ban of some neonicotinoids in the EU the loss of biodiversity has increasingly gained public awareness. On May 23 2018, the German Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina) published a discussion paper based on an expert group meeting held in 2017. "The Silent Spring - on the Need for Sustainable Plant Protection", co-authored by Prof. Juliane Filser, calls for changes in the European authorisation procedure for plant protection products. 15.01.2018: After more than a decade of exclusively successful and pleasant cooperation, my UFT colleague PD Dr.Stefan Stolte and his wife Dr.Marta Markiewicz gave their goodbye-party. We will terribly miss you and wish you all the best for your future as Professor of Water Chemistry at the University of Dresden – trusting that the spatial distance won't stop us from pursuing common projects.
