Information Visualization on Interactive Surfaces

In my dissertation, I plan to design, implement, and evaluate visualizations  that support the tasks of social science researchers and adapt those visualizations to interactive surfaces. My research questions aim to

  1.  investigate how interactive visualizations can support social science researchers in their workflow,
  2. analyze how visualizations can be adapted to tablets and large vertical displays, and
  3.  identify the benefits and limitations of visualizations on interactive surfaces.

I aim to contribute on investigating how can visualization support problem-solving in social science research, as well as extending the solution space of multi-touch interaction techniques, and identifying the advantages and disadvantages of performing visual tasks on interactive surfaces in comparison to desktop displays.
