Upon invitation of Sparkasse Bremen, Dr. Julian Decius, head of Organizational Psychology, participated in a panel discussion on "Sparkasse as a Network Organization" as part of the "Umdenkwerkstatt" on topics of "New Work" and "New Learning" on May 03, 2022. Together with Pranjal Kothari (Board Member of Sparkasse) and Stefan Messerknecht (Managing Partner hmmh multimediahaus AG), he discussed the advantages and disadvantages of establishing a self-directed organizational structure (almost) without hierarchical levels, which the Sparkasse Bremen implemented a few years ago. Further steps of the cooperation between the field of Organizational Psychology and the Sparkasse Bremen are planned.

Designing work contexts

The goal of this thematic focus is to examine conducive conditions for work-related learning, employability, and organizational development, both by managers (e.g., shaping learning culture) and by employees (e.g., job crafting).

New Work requires New Learning

This topic is dedicated to the question of how employees in dynamic work environments can be empowered to learn "what they really, really want" in a self-directed way. The "Learning Opportunities Perception Potential", which helps employees to grasp learning opportunities, is considered crucial here.
