"Eval-Science" – success story project of the BMBF

From 2017 to 2019, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded projects of scientific-technological cooperation between Germany and Ukraine. The project funding is part of the Federal Government's internationalisation strategy for science and research. A project funded by the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics at the University of Bremen was selected as success story project recently.

In this project, accompanying scientific research was carried out to implement the evaluation of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences (AdW) in Ukraine. In 2016, Ukraine had already begun to evaluate the AdW institutes on the model of the Leibniz Association's evaluation procedure. A German-Ukrainian team, supported by the BMFB on the one hand and the Ukrainian Ministry of Science on the other, accompanied the evaluation process and analysed the strengths, weaknesses and potential of the Ukrainian science and innovation system. The team around Jutta Günther (University of Bremen) and Igor Yegorov (AdW Ukraine) worked closely and productively together, also involving young scientists. In addition to work meetings, international workshops and a final conference in Kiev, a detailed field report, a transfer-oriented final report and a proposal for the expansion of future cooperation between the Leibniz and AdW institutes ("Twinning List") were produced.
