New third-party funded project on the potential of green hydrogen in Bremen

Scientists of the working group "Resilient Energy Systems" (Department of Production Engineering) together with colleagues of the working group "Innovation and Structural Change" (Faculty of Business Studies and Economics) have succeeded in acquiring a project to investigate the potential of green hydrogen in Bremen.

In this project, which was launched on January 1, 2020 and is financed by the Bremer Aufbaubank, scientists from both working groups and partners from industry are pooling their expertise in order to draw up a roadmap for the establishment of hydrogen value chains in Bremen, Bremerhaven and neighboring regions. Furthermore, a potential analysis for the realization of an electrolyser at the site of the steel industry in Bremen is to be carried out.

The three-year project combines engineering, economic and socio-technical expertise and addresses future-oriented questions of energy supply, sustainability and technological innovations. It will serve to promote young scientists and the transfer of knowledge.
