Together with Mo Box Philippines, Desinstitute Brazil, Open Society Foundation, Kuza Trust Kenya, Whare Tukutuku New Zealand, Instituto AMMA Psique e Negritude Brazil, and Hayat Malaysia, the bilingual panel "Treatment of Trap? Tratamento ou Armadilha" raised crucial issues on the current dominant drugs treatment paradigm - its racist, colonial, and punitive logics - and proposed a model for genuine and compassionate care with insights coming especially from global South perspectives that are often side-lined in such discussions. They closed the panel with an emphasis on why this matters for our collective efforts in global policy reform.
