SAVE & SAFE

We stand together
The SAVE & SAFE project is an innovative initiative aimed at improving the care of geriatric patients with a history of falls while also relieving the burden on nursing staff. By integrating modern technologies and a digital AI-assisted system for preventive fall prevention, the project seeks to enhance patient safety and overall healthcare quality. Interdisciplinary collaboration among all project participants ensures the best possible care for patients. The project, which runs from 2024 to 2027, is being carried out at multiple locations, including geriatric departments in Krefeld, Düsseldorf, and Bonn. The intervention phase begins in autumn 2025, followed by an extensive evaluation. The CSL, Uni Bremen is responsible for analyzing the primary effects of this new form of care on the workload of healthcare professionals. Through this approach, SAVE & SAFE not only benefits patients by actively preventing falls but also supports nursing staff and contributes to long-term improvements in the healthcare system.
Tasks for CSL Uni Bremen:
The aim of the study is to use artificial intelligence methods to detect stress based on biosignals. For this purpose, EEG data, movement patterns, and verbal comments from nursing professionals are recorded and analyzed. The collected data enables the automated identification and quantification of stressful situations in everyday work. Machine learning techniques will be used to detect and objectively assess peak stress levels. These insights can help improve the understanding of daily nursing routines and contribute to the development of targeted measures to reduce stress in the future.
