Counseling Topics
You can contact the In-House Social Counseling Service with a wide range of issues.
From
A for working time structuring (Arbeitszeitstrukturierung),
B for relationship problems (Beziehungsprobleme),
C for chronic illnesses,
D for depression
… to
R for resource orientation,
S for self-doubt,
T for death and grief (Tod and Trauer),
U for support in difficult life situations (Unterstützung in schwierigen Lebenslagen),
V for developing improvement measures (Verbesserungsschritte erarbeite)
… to
Z for strengthening cooperation (Zusammenarbeit stärken)
and for all other professional, private, or health problems and challenges between A and Z, you can get psychosocial and psychological counseling appointments and coaching from the In-House Social Counseling Service.
The only requirement is that you have an employment contract with the University of Bremen.
- You can find more specific examples of the various reasons for seeking In-House Social Counseling Service in my circular email to newly hired research assistants, which is equally applicable to all other employees.
- An important part of my work is providing professional support to team leader. Here is my information letter about the In-House Social Counseling Service for professors and other team leader.
- You can also receive support from the In-House Social Counseling Service in connection with long-term or serious illnesses. You can find out more about this in my support letter for employees who have been ill for a long time.
Of course, I cannot be an expert in every conceivable subject area and I often do not have as much time as I would like. However, if we are unable to resolve a problem here at the Counseling Service, I can help you find the right support services in Bremen and the surrounding area and get the help you need.
What I cannot do:
- Offer legal advice
- Represent your interests in a biased manner vis-à-vis other university bodies. For this, you can contact the staff council, KRAM (The College of Academic Employees and its Council), central and decentralised women's representatives, women's representatives for the service sector and the representative for disabled employees.
In addition, there are internal counseling centers that are much more specialised in individual topics than the very broad-based In-House Social Counseling Service, namely
- In-House Addiction Prevention, a specialist counseling centre for questions relating to addiction
- the ADE, a counseling office that deals with discrimination, conflicts and violence
- the BEM-Team for workplace integration management
and a range of other internal support services.
