Incoming Students

The Institute of European Studies offers a great range of courses for exchange students in German as well as English language. For your learning agreement you can choose from courses in this study program as well as from other programs offered in the Department of Social Sciences (FB 8), e.g. Political Science, History, etc.. Courses in European Studies usually offer the option to obtain 3 or 6 credit points depending on the kind of exam you have to pass at the end of the semester.

You can find a list of all courses offered in the different study programs in the  course catalogue(for the social science courses, please look for the entries below “Fachbereich 08: Sozialwissenschaften”).

The International Office of the University of Bremen provides a lot of information regarding the Erasmus program and your stay in Bremen in general (including advice on housing, financing, health insurance, etc.). If you are enrolling in the Institute of Europan Studies via an exchange program, you can read the relevant information about your nomination and important deadlines  here. Additionally, you can consult the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which also provides lots of information about studying in Germany.
You are welcome to participate in the orientation program for incoming students organised by the International Office in cooperation with the Erasmus Initiative Bremen, which usually takes place two or three weeks before lectures start.

In order to register your grades in each course, you need to present the lecturer this document ("ECTS-Leistungsnachweis"). You can find more information on this and on the Transcript of Records you will receive at the end of your stay here.
